Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, geniuses in their time, great men of renown, whose works have revolutionized the world and the way systems and societies function. But of what use is their writing and philosophy to me, if I do not come across them and accept their beliefs? Of what bloody use is their use to me in this time of education that is necessary for me to advance my life and status in this world? I don't even know of what use is my ranting on here. Should I just conform my thoughts into learning what cannot be taught? Or learning arithmetic which I have no interest in? Why is it a pre-requisite of Arts faculties for me to have obtained A Maths background and a paper qualification of it? And why is it that every year, the Ministry of Education allows and entertains some nut whose vision for Singaporean students is for them to pack in as many tests and examinations, even the SATs that America is doing without now? We have a bloody 'A"-Level Examination from bloody Cambridge already, and spend 3/4 of our time studying for these subjects. And then there's Project Work. Screw it. All of us are so packed already within this two bloody years. Ranting, scrambling for thoughts.
"Discussion in class involves twenty blockheads and two cocky neurotics, discussingabout something that neither they nor their teacher know." -Vladimir Nabokov
I think that's how it goes.
